These clematis will not fit into any other category. They occur
naturally in various corners of the globe and in the main are very
easy to grow and don't get wilt or any other worrying ailment. The
flowers tend to be small but are either profuse or of charmingly dainty
form, quite unlike their large flowered cousins. Some are very fragrant.
Don't disturb the roots whilst planting.
Sorry, we are no longer able to provide a mail order service. Visitors
to the nursery are welcome.

| Anita: Masses of small pure white
flowers giving a very pretty massed effect. |

| crispa: Slender climber with small,
bell-shaped flowers of purple-blue tepals curving back to show the
striped white inside. Best grown through a shrub and given a mulch
for winter protection. It dies down like a herbaceous variety. Unusual

| flammula: Clouds of tiny white starry
flowers filling the garden with fragrance. They are followed by silvery
seed heads. If grown through a tree, best left un-pruned. (Zones

| florida Alba Plena: A double, outer
sepals and inner rosette of greenish white. Quite unusual and needs
a very sheltered site. Makes a fine conservatory plant. 3-4"diam.

Stunning beauty having broad cream sepals with a large cluster of
petal like anthers, changing from green to rich purple. Has been compared

| fusca: Strange purple flowers
like little elf caps. They are a light green inside and covered with
brown furry hairs outside. Nice seedheads in autumn. Dies down like

| x Huldine: Transluscent pearly white
flowers, freely produced with mauve shading the reverse of the petals.
This colour glows through and is most attractive. Robust and free

| Paul Farges (syn. fargesoides): A
cross between our native vitalba and fargesii, vigorous as you might
expect, covered in panicles of small white flowers in summer, nice
lots of seedheads later. Good for rapid and enthusiastic growth. (Zones

| rehderiana: This is so pretty. It
carries panicles of small pale-yellow bells with a heavy cowslip fragrance.
It is lovely grown through a small tree or shrub, or against a wall.

| serratifolia: Pale primrose yellow
nodding flowers with wide pointed sepals and dark purple stamens.
Lemon scented and a good choice where an orientalis variety would
